Pompeii, Italy : Tourism Destinations The Romans

Pompey probably heard the name you would associate with the eruption of Mount Vesuvius events centuries ago. Pompeii is an ancient city in southern Italy that used to be the pride of the Romans because of the beautiful landscapes and fertile soil. Moreover, geographically quite close to Pompeii Naples and Capri Isles, two coastal cities are always shrouded in sunlight and warm air throughout the year.

The beauty of the city was also supported by the presence of Mount Vesuvius that soaring 1281 feet above sea level. Local tourists who come from various parts of the city in Italy did not lose much, because in summer they prefer to vacation to the beach. With air temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius at the time, people flocked to bathe in the sea or black skin under the hot sun.

Before buried for thousands of years by the explosion of Mount Vesuvius, Pompeii is a city favorite tourist destination of the Roman nobility and conglomerates, especially in the summer. Pompeii was once a city of safe haven for sailors of Greece and Tunisia. Civilization mixture of Etruscan nation's culture and cultural elements to make the city the Greeks were greatly expanded, especially after the city was a Roman colony in 80 BC.

In the reign of Octavian Augustus (27 BC-14 AD), Pompey suffered infrastructural development major. Various such an imposing building built amphitheater, pallaestra (the stadium where he did various kinds of sports activities) with a large swimming pool, reservoir water to more than 25 of the fountain, at least four public baths, office buildings, and houses personal.

In addition to imposing buildings, the city also has a brothel, tavern, and nightclub where the residents spend time to have fun and make transactions prostitution. In fact it is said, fake genitals in its original size hanged in front of the brothels are.

Pompeii at that time was known to the freedom of its citizens in matters relating to sexual activity. Therefore, when Mount Vesuvius erupted, many people who are doing sex caught on in the city and died instantly. For thousands of years, the bodies were buried in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius materials and stone.

In fact, the population of Pompeii was used to earthquakes - in a smaller scale that often occurs in the Campania region of southern Italian region that includes Naples and surrounding areas, including the city of Pompeii. However, once also recorded earthquake magnitude 7.5 on the Richter on 5 February last year 62 CE. This Gempat cause considerable damage to roads, temples, bridges, and houses.

When Mount Vesuvius erupted on August 24, the year 79 AD, Pompeii was buried city of smoke and volcanic ash during the 1700 year, and only rediscovered by accident in the year 1748 AD. And when the mountain erupted events that happened, the city of Pompeii has not been fully repaired by earthquakes. As a result of the eruption, 20 thousand residents in the city killed instantly.

Exploration of the city started to be done on the orders of the King of Naples Charles III of Bourbon. Until now, the area has been unearthed is the area of 66 hectares. Pompey now become one of the world heritage sites to be treated by UNESCO. And that makes you wonder merrasab is, once buried for thousands of years, various buildings and buried relic in it are still intact.

Including the residents who were killed and petrified because doused dust, lava, and the heat. For proof, we (including me) now can see the fact that the area was once there is a city that was inhabited by the Romans to the palace, the houses and temples are still well maintained.

It is said that it was caused by dust and rocks thrown from the crater of Mount Vesuvius and buried the town meetings led to the absence of Pompey the incoming air so that no moisture can also cause decay. However, after the site was found and its existence was announced to the general public, the event has occurred erosion, excavation, reconstruction, and vandalism. In addition, the incoming air and climate change have made some parts of the old town becomes damaged.

Until now, there are still digging and research activities of mineral substances left over from rocks or soil deposits by the former archaeologist who helped local students. The reason is because not all parts of the old city of Pompeii uncovered, and still many questions unanswered history.
